Abstract

708,189. Concrete pipes; joints. LOCK JOINT PIPE CO. April 17, 1951 [Feb. 9, 1951], No. 8942/51. Classes 99 (1) and 99 (2). In a spigot-andsocket joint for concrete pipes in which the spigot has a terminal steel joint ring 13, a gasket 24 is arranged in a recess 14 in the spigot or in a recess in the socket, the recess being so located that the gasket seals the joint between the ring 13 and the concrete. The ring 13 comprises partly or wholly the end face of the spigot. As shown, the ring is partly embedded in the concrete and is secured to longitudinal reinforcing rods 15. A number of different arrangements of recess and ring are described and shown.
