Abstract

1,033,756. Pipe couplings. HEPWORTH IRON CO. Ltd. May 14, 1965, No. 20546/65. Addition to 1,023,729. Heading F2G. The coupling socket of Specification 1,023,729 has a maximum thickness of the peripheral wall of the recess in the socket lying in the plane in which will act the maximum compressive stresses on the head of the sealing ring due to insertion of a spigoted end of a pipe length. The inner peripheral wall of the recess may diverge towards the mouth of the socket (Fig. 2).
