Abstract

384,700. Pipe joints. HOLT, J., Lion Works, Witton, Birmingham, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. Aug. 5, 1931, No. 22224 and 25756. [Class 99 (i).] In a pipe joint a recess in the tapered extension 4 of the coupling member contains packing 5 which is compressed on to the pipe 7 when the extension is distorted by screwing up a nut having an inner tapered surface 10. The surfaces 4, 10 may be convex and the extension 4 may be slotted. A shoulder 12 of the nut further compresses the packing. Specifications 6138/10 and 17350/14, [both in Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], are referred to.
