Abstract

379,031. Pipejoints. KEATING, E. W. 120, Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh. June 19, 1931, No. 17851. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint comprises a screw-union 3, 10, rings 6, 7 having tapered faces fitting within the expanded ends of the pipes, and packing 1 compressed between a ring 2 and a ring 5 which fits between the union 10 and the rings 6, 7. In a modification, Fig. 2, the pipe end 8 is not expanded and is surrounded by the ring 7 against which the packing is compressed. In a further modification, the pipe 9 is formed with a screwed socket 9a, the pipe 8 being expanded over a coned ring 12 in the base of the socket, and packing 1 being compressed against the expanded pipe end by the ring 2 and nut 3.
