Abstract

397,488. Pipe joints. RADO, L., 4, Herwarthstrasse, Berlin. Feb. 12, 1932, No. 4252. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1931. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint comprises a sleeve nut 4 with an inturned flange 11 at one end of such dimensions that it leaves a space between itself and the pipe which it surrounds, a rubber or other resilient element 3 which is compressed between the flange 11 and a loose ring 8 by screwing up a nut 5 so that the resilient element protrudes around the ring 8 and between .the Range 11 and the pipe end. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also :-(1) a pipe joint as in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) in which sleeves 6 screw into a sleeve nut 4 and compress a soft rubber &c. expansion element 3 so that it protrudes into a space 10 left between the pipe ends, and into spaces left inside loose rings 8 ; (2) a pipe joint as in Fig. 3 (Cancelled) comprising sleeve nuts 4, 12, an expansion element 3 and washers 14, 15, 16; (3) .a joint between two hoses similar to the pipe joint first described except that a short length of piping is inserted in the ends of the two hoses ; (4) a joint between two hoses similar to the pipe joint described with reference to Fig. 1 (Cancelled) except that the resilient element 3 is divided at the middle, and the sleeve nut 4 has an inwardly directed web at its centre carrying two tubular portions on which the hose ends are pressed ; (5) a joint between a pipe and a hose as in modification (3) above with the short length of pipe omitted and the pipe end inserted in the hose end ; (6) a joint between a hose and a pipe whose end is formed with a sleeve nut as in the joint first described, the pipe being inserted in the hose end and the joint consolidated by a sleeve and resilient element as before. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
