Spigot - and socket screwed joints; sleeve joints. - In a joint for pipes a, a, wherein the ends of the pipes are screwed into an external coupling sleeve band fluid-tightness is secured by rubber packing rings d which are interposed between conical surfaces b', c<1> on the ends of the sleeve b and on lock-nuts c, c respectively as shown, the packing rings are of such dimensions that they cannot be enclosed by the opposed chamfers b<1>, c<1> when compressed thereby. The invention is also applicable to an ordinary spigot- and-socket screwed joint.
