[Class 99(i)] A rubber &c. ring 14, Fig. 2, to be inserted between the ends of two pipes 1 preferably having rubber linings 3, comprises an arched part 17 at least one edge of which abuts against an internal shoulder, preferably undercut, on one or both pipes or on the linings, and a radial flange 15 extending between members such as 5, 7 by means of which the pipes are coupled together. Each member 5 may consist of half-rings having ribs 6 fitting in grooves in the pipes, the members 7 being in the form of rings drilled for coupling-bolts 8. The ring 14 may have recesses 16 to allow the arch to flatten under the pressure of fluid passing through the pipes. Fig 5 shows a modification in which the ring 16 is made in two parts 114 each having a flange 115, a ring 115a being interposed and coupling rings 107 being screwed on to the pipes. A ring may be interposed between the end of each lining and the member 114. Fig. 7 shows a further modification in which a ring 146 engages a shoulder 9 on one pipe and has a flange 147 clamped between a ring 107 and a flange on a lining 140 on the other pipe.
