Abstract

654,341. Pipe joints. SOC. CONTINENTALE ET COLONIALE DE CONSTRUCTION SOC. ANON. Nov. 16, 1948, No. 29825. Convention date, Jan. 10, 1948. [Class 99(i)] In joints particularly for concrete pipes, bolts 23 pass through an interior annular projection 22 of a female element 17 in which is engaged a pipe 16, and when each bolt is tightened a ring 11, of deformable material such as rubber, located in a housing of the element is pressed against the element and the pipe and, simultaneously, portions of the projection are put under compression. The projection extends longitudinally over the end of the pipe. The element may be a sleeve overlapping two contiguous pipe ends and the rings annular or formed from strip. Individual segmental or annular metal guard plates 12, 13 may be placed on each side of the rings.
