Abstract

268,162. A.M.A.C., Ltd., and Bowen, H. H. April 30, 1926. Stuffing-box joints. -In joints of the kind wherein a tube 3 abuts against a shoulder 5 within a socket 4 and fluidtightness between said tube and socket is secured by a compressible joint ring 7 which is interposed between the end 6 of the socket and a split ring 9, the joint ring is coned on both faces while the socket end 6 is coned and roughened. The coned surface 11 of the ring 9 may also be roughened, while the outer surface 10 of this ring is conical to engage a like surface on the coupling nut 8.
