Abstract

431,918. Hose couplings. CARPENTER, G., and ELECTRIC HOSE & RUBBER CO., Ltd., 198, Westminster Bridge Road, London. Jan. 29, 1935, No. 2905. [Class 99 (i)] A hose x is coupled to an end fitting &c. a by an externallyconed collar c which is contracted to compress the hose onto a spigot b of the end fitting by an external sleeve d which screws onto the said fitting and is internally coned at its outer end to engage with the coned surface of said contractible collar c. The collar is adapted to abut against a shoulder a<1> of the fitting, and it may be split as shown in Fig. 4; alternatively the outer end only is split at c<1>, Fig. 3, to form a contractible portion consisting of a plurality of deformable fingers c<2>. The spigot b is provided with a bulbous end b<1>.
