[Class 99 (i).] In a joint in which the pipe ends overlap, packing d is compressed around the spigot b and in the flared mouth c of the socket by the interengagement of screw-threaded collars e, f. A shoulder of the collar f engages the packing or a flange on the spigot formed by a buckled portion g. The spigot and the collar f may have interengaging curved surfaces to allow the alignment of the pipes to be adjusted.
