Joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer part compressed. -In the reducing coupling described in the parent Specification, wherein the usual double conical plug 9 having ends of unequal size is employed between the flared ends of the pipes 5, 6 to be joined, the collar on the smaller pipe 6 is replaced by a flanged sleeve. 12 which surrounds and forms a support for said pipe 6. The internal shoulder 15 of the coupling-member 13 engages the flange 12<a> of the sleeve 12, while the flatted or hexagonal portion 14 thereof forms a bearing and support for the sleeve which protrudes therethrough. The invention is also applicable to a joint between a flared pipe and a conically-bored junction piece.
