Abstract

405,639. Pipe &c. joints. LAMONT, B. N. R., 56, Maple Road, Surbiton, Surrey. June 1, 1932, No. 15578. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe P is jointed at any angle and in a fluidtight manner to a spigot 2 on a coupling member 1 by a jointing sleeve S which is disposed between a pair of collars 5, 6, loosely mounted on the pipe end, and is adapted to be deformed to grip the pipe at its ends upon forcing the collars together by a coupling nut 4 which screws on to the spigot 2. The collars have convexed exterior surfaces, each constituting a zone of a sphere, which engage bevelled seatings on the spigot 2 and nut 4, and they are also formed with internal steps 11 against which the jointing sleeve contacts when it is deformed. The jointing sleeve shown may be replaced by a solid sealing ring of trapezoidal or conical crosssection ; alternatively, Fig. 5, the pipe end 19 may be flared and gripped between the jointing ring S4 and collar 6.
