309,656. British Mannesmann Tube Co., Ltd., and Smith, E. S. Jan. 31, 1928. Grant of Patent refused. Cup-leather, overlap joints; spigot joints with divided sleeve.- In a pipe joint wherein the adjacent ends of the pipes are drawn together by a two-part housing member 3, having inclined surfaces adapted to engage inwardly directed flanges 5 on the pipe ends, and fluid-tightness is secured bv a bifurcated elastic ring 1 positioned between the said flanges, the packing ring is formed with recesses that engage both the inner and upper surfaces of the pipe flanges as shown.
