314,488. Soc. Electro-MÚcanique d' Appareillage pour l'Essence. June 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Stuffing-box joints.-The adjacent ends of two tubes are connected in a fluidtight manner by means of a union consisting of two tubular members 1, 2, Fig. 1, and a coupling nut 3, the members 1, 2, being formed internally with inclined shoulders 1', 2<1> respectively, between which and like surfaces 6, 6<1> on the ends of an inner member 4, resilient packing rings 8, 10 are positioned and compressed to grip the ends of the tubes inserted therethrough. The packing rings are formed with bevelled ends, while the distance piece 4 is provided with an internal shoulder 5 against which the ends of the tubes abut. A slightly modified union is shown in Fig. 7.
