Abstract

292,782. Dine, J. H., and Alexander, H. M. July 8, 1927. Swivelling butt joints.-In a swivelling union for pipes of the type comprising two members a, b, to which the pipes are connected, having abutting flanges clamped together by a ring n as shown, fluid-tightness between the clamping ring n and the flange of the member a is secured by a projection r on the back of said flange which engages a groove q, provided with a packing ring s, formed in the inwardly projecting collar of the ring n under the action of a corrugated spring washer m, Fig. 5, which is interposed between the abutting flanges of the union members. In a modification the clamping ring is attached to the flange of the member b by bolts.
