Convention date, June 24, 1937, [Class 99 (i)] A joint for plain pipe ends comprises a sleeve 2 fitting closely on the pipes, rubber gaskets 3 of trapezoidal cross section engaging the plane end faces of the sleeve, and loose flanges 4 bolted together and having conical surfaces engaging like surfaces on the gaskets. In connecting a plain pipe to a flanged pipe or fitting the sleeve abuts against packing on the end of the flanged pipe.
