531,091. Pipe joints. STAVELEY COAL & IRON CO., Ltd., and FREER, E. June 27, 1939, No. 18695. [Class 99 (i)] A resilient sleeve 14 lines a recess in the socket 11, and a resilient packing ring 20 is rolled in by the spigot 17, being compressed between sleeve and spigot, and lying finally between the internal flanges 15, 16 of the sleeve. The flange 16 is deformed by the tapered end of the spigot against a shoulder 13.
