528,965. Pipe joints. WRIGHT, H. CLAYTON-. April 13, 1939, Nos. 11162/39, 28293/39 and 1694/40. [Class 99 (i)] In a pipe joint of the kind in which a rubber sealing ring 12 is compressed around the metal pipe 7 by a coupling nut 6 which screws on to the fitting 3, the metal of the pipe is sufficiently thin for a groove 15 to be permanently formed therein by compression of the sealing ring or the ring is compressed around a metal collar 16, Fig. 4, fixed on the pipe at a distance from its end. The rubber sealing ring 18, Fig. 4, is of the form shown in Fig. 6 when unstressed.
