Abstract

517,156. Pipe joints. LAMONT, J. H., and LAMONT & CO., Ltd., J. H. Aug. 25, 1938, No. 24994. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint in which a packing ring 9 is compressed around the pipe 6 and in a recess of the socket 10 the pressure is transmitted by a ring comprising a flange 16 and reduced portion 15, the latter being contracted on to the pipe by a conical surface 12 on the coupling nut. The part 15 may have a bevelled edge. In a modification a shoulder 14a, Fig. 5, engages the ring flange 16 and a sleeve 19 having a conical face for contracting the ring screws into the coupling nut.
