[Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint comprises a hat-shaped or U-shaped packing ring of which a part 2 grips the spigot and a part 3 is expanded against the socket by a slightly tapered sheet metal ferrule E which is threaded and flanged as shown. A split liner D is located between the packing and ferrule. Specification 311,032, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], is referred to.
