Abstract

349,549. Pipe joints. ACIERIES ET USINES A TUBES DE LA SARRE, 64, Rue Pierre Charron, Paris. Feb. 21, 1930, No. 5847. Convention date, Jan. 24. [Class 99 (i).] In a welded spigot-and-socket pipe joint, the weld 9 is relieved of transverse stresses by a long engagement of the spigot and socket parts 1, 5 and of longitudinal stresses by co-operating screwthreads &c. 3, 7 on the two parts. The spigot is formed with a conical shoulder 4 which abuts against the end 8 of the socket, the latter being flared to receive same, and the weld is effected at the mouth of said flare.
