[Class 99 (i)] A conical sealing ferrule c which is compressed around the pipe a by the tapered bore of the coupling nut f has its rounded thicker end seated in a shallow conical recess d at the mouth of the pipe b. The pipe b is thicker than the pipe a but of the same bore and is recessed so that the pipe a can fit into it. The ferrule may have a lining of solder, the joint being heated after assembly.
