[Class 99 (i)] A coupling for metallic pipes for example of copper or non-ferrous alloys comprise a tubular member 1 providing a socket 2 to receive the end of the pipe 3 and a coupling- member 4 having a conical shoulder 5 adapted to bear on the peripheral edge 7 of a conical joint element 6 of softer metal than the pipe, the narrow end of the element 6 entering the bore 2a of the socket 2. The element 6 is preferably undercut at 9 and the mouth of the socket rounded off at 8.
