550,153. Pipe joints. COMPOFLEX CO., Ltd., MOSELEY, J., and GEBBIE, W. P. V. Aug. 26, 1941, No. 10882. [Class 99 (i)] A joint for connecting a coupling-member to the end of a flexible tube comprises a hollow plug 5 inserted into the end of the tube 1 and projecting therefrom so as to form or carry the coupling-member, such as a nut 7, and a collar 13 fitted on to the end of the tube and having its inner surface smooth but tapered at its outer end 14. The part 11 of the plug 5 may be tapered and be formed with a helical groove engaging a wire reinforcement 3 within the tube. The collar 13 may be secured to a metal layer provided at the end of the tube beneath an outer wire layer 4.
