[Class 99 (i).] Packing d is compressed around a spigot f and against a preferably inclined shoulder c<1> in the socket c by a gland e which engages a recess in the socket by means of inter-engaging lugs e<1>, c<3>, interrupted screw threads or a bayonet joint. The packing may be of triangular section and the gland may have an interrupted double screw thread and be castellated or otherwise formed for engagement by a suitable tool.
