Abstract

759,718. Pipe flanges. CLOUTER, C. C. M. Sept. 19, 1955 [Sept. 20, 1954], No. 27106/54. Class 99(1). The end of a metal tube B expanded into mating contact with a machined, tapered bore D in a flange A compresses a sealing ring C of rubber or other resilient material located in a recess F formed in the bore and to provide a fluid-tight seal between the flange and tube. A lip E at the outer face of the flange in conjunction with the mating tapered portions of the flange and tube prevents longitudinal movement in either direction of the flange relative to the tube. The ring C may be circular or rectangular in cross-section, and the flange may have holes H for bolted connection with a similar flange on another tube, and a boss G.
