Abstract

1424595 Pipe couplings BRITISH STEEL CORP 21 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 24633/73 Heading F2G A pipe coupling for coupling together a pipe 3 with a flanged end 1 of, for example, a valve 2, comprises, an annular flange 6 fitted around the end of the pipe 3, and secured to the flange by bolts 4 and nuts 5, a locking member in the form of a spirally wound steel strip 8 fitted within groove 7 on the pipe 3 and abutting an inner surface of the flange 6 at 9 to locate the flange on the pipe, and an annular resilient sealing member 10 of rubber to seal between the pipe 3 and the flanged end 1. The sealing member has an annular cavity formed therein and communicating with the interior of the pipe so as to improve the seal provided by the member 10.
