Abstract

901,048. Pipe joints. ALLEN & SON Ltd., ALFRED. April 10, 1961 [April 11, 1960], No. 12738/60. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXVI]. A rubber &c. gasket 20 for a pipe joint has integral locating studs 21 that engage holes 19 in one of the pipe end flanges 11 to position the gasket during assembly of the joint. In their free state, the studs 21 have a crosssection slightly larger than the holes 21 and a length slightly more than the thickness of the flange 11. In a modification studs 21 are provided on each side of the gasket. The invention is shown applied to a pipe joint in which the end flanges 11 are drawn together by a U-section clamping strap 10 of the type described in Specification 749,664 which is referred to.
