Abstract
657,439. Pipe joints. PHIPPS, J. D. B., and WOODS, T. N. W. Feb. 9, 1949, No. 3581. [Class 99(i)] In a terminal fixture for a rubber hose, part of the hose is clamped between corresponding convex and concave surfaces on a metal ring 6, which is embedded in the hose, and a divided metal flange 10 respectively. The ring may be inserted within the hose or between intermediate layers, or it may be bonded between the intermediate layers during manufacture of the hose; in the latter case the ring is provided with radial holes, Fig. 3 (not shown), to receive parts of the rubber lining which may be extended to form a protective gasket between adjacent flanges of a hose-line carrying corrosive liquid. The flanges have bolt holes. Preferred dimensions of flange, ring &c. are given.
