Abstract

572,001. Pipe joints. KAY, F. Feb. 1, 1944, No. 1857. [Class 99 (i)] A coupling for a hose or soft metal pipes comprises a grooved tapered support 2 which is forced into the pipes 1 and a soft metal ferrule 4, e.g., of copper, which is tapered at each end and clamped to grip the pipes. This may be effected by a screw and socket action as shown or by flange members held together by bolts. For coupling a pipe to a fitting, a single tapered support is employed and a small, preferably convex, ferrule is used.
