Abstract

571,450. Pipe joints. PARKER, A. La R. Nov. 13, 1943, No. 18930. [Class 99 (i)] The end of a cylindrical sealing ferrule 26 which is rolled over to form an abutment 27 of semi-circular formation is engaged by an inclined surface 19 of a coupling nut 17 and then by a radial surface 20 which forces the ferrule on to the tapered end 14 of a recess 15 in the socket 10 and thereby deforms the end of the ferrule into the recess 23 in the pipe which seats on a ridge 12 in the base of the socket. The ferrule may have a plurality of longitudinal slots extending from either end. Specification 540,038 is referred to.
