Abstract

718,275. Pipe joints. MAINWARING, H., and JOHNSON, P. G. July 25, 1952 [April 26, 1951], No. 9790/51. Class 99 (1). A joint for connecting pipes at an angle considerably less than a right angle comprises a sleeve 1 to receive the pipes having the axes of its opposite ends at the said angle, packing rings 8 at the ends of the sleeve, and clamping rings 7 which are forced by bolts 10 to compress the packing rings on to the pipes, the bolts being anchored to a flange 6. The sleeve has an internal lug 5 located at a point where the pipes are farthest apart to form a limit stop. The sleeve may be provided with apertured lugs (not shown) through which anchoring rods may be driven into the ground.
