Hose Coupling The invention relates to hose couplings
for hoses with smooth inner and outer surfaces as well as one embedded in the wall
Reinforcement helix made of solid wire, with a grommet inserted into the end of the hose
with a smooth hose support surface and a hose that encloses the end of the hose with
the spout collar standing in a form-fitting connection axially adjustable sleeve, the
rests directly on the hose outer surface and on its inner surface with thread-like
Projections in the same sense of direction and at least approximately the same slope as
the helix embedded in the hose wall is provided.
The invention has set itself the task of one for against blowing up
very resistant hoses of larger diameter, usable hose coupling
to accomplish. Such hoses, which are used, for example, as tank truck hoses
find, usually have a helical reinforcement in their walls
coiled strong solid wire and also below and above the wire
Fabric or other textile inserts embedded in the surrounding rubber layers
are. As a result of this special structure, they are indeed capable of absorbing high internal pressures
suitable; on the other hand, however, they also show a rather inelastic behavior. There
the individual turns of the wire helix run almost in the circumferential direction
they offer considerable resistance to expansion or compression in the radial direction
opposite. A seal that is reliable against the high operating pressures that occur
between the nozzle inserted into the hose end and the hose wall
therefore very difficult to achieve. There is also the fact that such tanker hoses
are extremely heavily used in practice and also under pressure
Must allow relative movements of the connected hose ends within wide limits.
As a result of their high dimensional stiffness, the movement stresses have a practically undamped effect
back to the clamping points in full and place high demands on them
the hose connection in the couplings.
The invention overcomes the difficulties identified by the
Summary and combination of the singular characteristics known per se that a) the
The hose contact surface of the spout differs from its cylindrical or only very weakly
kegehgen hose-side end steadily conical or trumpet-like towards the nozzle collar
expanded and b) the sleeve is designed to be able to be reduced in diameter and
with an internally conical extension with a strong oblique suit a correspondingly conical one
The end face overlaps on the side of the nozzle collar facing away from the hose end.
The invention makes use of the knowledge that only the last
or the last two turns of the wire helix are somewhat expandable, there
no longer to be regarded as self-contained because of the proximity of the separation point
are. The conical or trumpet-like expansion of the sleeve outer jacket from the
hose-side cylindrical or only slightly tapered end part made possible
pulling up the hose with a corresponding slight widening in the mouth area,
the high tensile forces acting in the axial direction due to the running-up of the conical
Extension applied to the outer sleeve on the conical face of the nozzle collar
will. Because when the sleeve is reduced in diameter and on the hose
is pressed on, it moves axially at the same time due to the oblique tightening
in the direction of the coupling piece and pulls the end of the hose open with great force
the enlarged part of the grommet. This results in a good seal
between the hose wall and the nozzle. The coordination of the ledges on the
Inner circumferential surface of the sleeve on the alignment and the course of the inner wire helix
leaves the pressure only at the points between the individual turns
the spiral arise where the rubber of the hose wall with the fabric inserts also
able to yield. It is avoided that the projections with the high strength
Cross wire coils and cause local damage to the hose wall.
At the
Due to the deep penetration of the projections, the end of the hose can elongate
the hose wall and thus an increase in the distance between the windings, d. H. the
Slope of the wire helix. In view of this, it is useful if the
Incline of the projections on the inner lateral surface of the sleeve in the area of the last
Turn or turns of the reinforcement helix in the direction of the coupling piece
slightly increases. The projections themselves do not need a continuous helical line
to form, but they can also be in the form of individual conical, semi-conical
or more pyramidal, spaced on a helical line
Projections be formed.
Hose couplings of the type described above are known.
However, there are one-piece screw sleeves that cannot be reduced in diameter
used, in which the hose end only while reducing its
Wall thickness can be brought in. Hoses of the type described above
leave such a deformation due to the built-in reinforcement inserts
not to, and moreover, such a screw sleeve with an unchangeable diameter
exclude any possibility of widening the hose mouth from the start.
Also the use of an insertable grommet with a trumpet-shaped end
is known per se, but in connection with comparatively soft hoses
without reinforcement inserts for subordinate loads. There is also a hose coupling
with a strong oblique suit of the sleeve, which can be reduced in diameter, is known per se.
In this case, the sleeve provided with an oblique suit does not act directly on the hose
itself, but on a slotted intermediate sleeve. This will cause the axial movement
of the sleeve is not transferred to the end of the hose, which in this case also not at all
seems appropriate because the fullness is practical along its entire inserted length
is the same diameter. For rigid, incompressible hoses .are such
Couplings not to be used.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing
shown. It shows F i g. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the hose coupling in
untensioned state, F i g. 2 shows the longitudinal section through the same hose coupling
in the tensioned state: 1 denotes the hose, in the wall of which the solid wire helix2
is embedded. In the end of the hose the spout 3 is inserted, with
the coupling piece 4 consists of one piece. In her front (furthest in
the hose penetrating) part, this grommet is cylindrical while
they are tapered in their rear part s located within the hose end
or is thickened like a trumpet.
The end of the hose is surrounded by the sleeve which, with the extension 7, engages behind a nozzle collar = with an inclined surface 9. The surfaces 9 of the nozzle collar or 10 of the extension 7 are designed with an inclination and slide over one another, so that when the sleeve 6, which is slotted at one point (not shown), is clamped together, the sleeve 6 reduces its diameter &t; as in FIG. 2, at the same time also executes an axial movement in the direction of arrow 11. By clamping the sleeve 6 together, the thread-like projections 12 arranged on the inside penetrate into the hose wall and - since the sleeve moves in the direction of the coupling piece - it also takes the hose with it in the same direction and pulls it onto the trumpet-like thickening 5 the spout on, at least the inner surface of the hose must widen, so that there is a strong pressure there. The projections 12 have approximately the same pitch and the same sense of direction of the turns as the solid wire helix 2.
