Abstract

323,352. Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Co., Ltd., and Butcher, H. J. Dec. 15, 1928. Joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer part compressed.-In a connection between an armoured hose pipe C, having an unarmoured end, and a coupling member H of the kind in which the hose and coupling are drawn together by an external sleeve A, an internallyflared ring F embracing the end of the hose is provided to compress the same upon the curved base of th espigot G of the coupling member. The sleeve A is formed in two parts, held together by bolts D<1>, and is internally threaded to engage the armouring B of the hose, while longitudinal movement thereof is secured by bolts E<1> threaded through radial flanges E, J on the sleeve and coupling member respectively. The invention is also applicable to the connection of two lengths of hose, in which case the coupling member is provided with a spigot G at both ends or two interconnectible coupling members are used.
