Abstract

603,852. Expansion joints for pipe lines. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and WALSH, A. O. Nov. 1, 1945, No. 28977. [Class 99 (i)] An expansion joint for pipe lines comprises an annular member 1 of U-shaped section made of rubber or the like reinforced with textile material 1c, the member having inwardly disposed end walls 1d with beaded ends 1e, preferably containing wire reinforcement 2, and these walls being adapted for connection to the end flanges 4a of contiguous pipes 4 by means of the bolts 5 and rings 3. The member may be arranged so that the bolts do not pass through it, in which case a recess may be formed in each ring 3 to receive the beaded end of the wall 1d. The ring 3 may be segmental. The Provisional Specification describes the member 1 as a corrugated tube with inwardly turned end flanges.
