Abstract

Two pieces (3) are screwed into the ends of the pipes (8, 9). Each piece has a conical onto part (4a), the two together forming a V-shape. Each pice has an annular groove(s) in which is glued a sealing ring (6). Two half collars, each with an inner V-shaped groove, are placed round the screw-in parts. Bolts are used to pull these half-collars together, so compressing the sealing rings together. One half collar has tapped bores which receive the threaded shanks of two draw bolts which pass through smooth wall bores in the other half collar.
