[Class 99 (i)] A pipe joint, Fig. 1, wherein each pipe 1 has its end 2 flanged by either swaging, moulding or casting has a sealing ring 3, the whole being held together by the jointing collars 4, which are made in two halves for easy assembly and have a greater internal diameter than the external diameter of the pipe, resting on the bearing surfaces of the flanges 2 and axially strained by the clamping rings 5 having conical inner surfaces to fit the corresponding surfaces of jointing collars. In a modification, Fig. 3, the clamping rings are supplied with a flange drilled to take bolts for axial adjustment. In another modification where two pipes of the same inside diameter but of different wall thickness are used the thinner pipe only is flanged to give a bearing surface on the other pipe end. In a further modification, Fig. 9, for pipes of greater thickness joined to a vessel, an annular recess is supplied in the pipes to accommodate the jointing collars 4. In a modification of Fig. 9, clamping rings similar to those shown in Fig. 1 may be used. In a further modification, joints similar to those shown in Figs. 1 and 3 may be used; one pipe being cut short and welded or suitably joined to the vessel.
