Abstract
530,965. Pipe joints. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 7, 1939, No. 19868. Convention date, July 7, 1938. [Class 99 (i)] A flexible joint comprises a ring 17 having an inner cylindrical surface in contact with a grooved sealing surface on one pipe end and an outer spherical surface engaging the inner spherical surface of a member 20 connected to the pipe end 10. In one form the member 20 comprises a thin sleeve spun over the ring 17 and over a ball surface 14 on the pipe 10. In another form the outer sleeve 38, Fig. 2, comprises two portions having bolted flanges 42, 43, and a flange 39 on the sleeve is held with radial clearance between collars 29, 30 on the pipe 25.
