Abstract
524,600. Pipe joints. JENAER GLASWERK. SCHOTT & GEN. Feb. 2, 1939, No. 3464. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1938. [Class 99 (i)] In a flanged pipe joint the flanges increase in diameter towards their abutting end surfaces a sleeve or other coupling member embracing the flanges and being in contact with each of them at least at two points, at least one contact with one of the flanges comprising a setscrew. In one form each flange 3, 4 is a frustrum of a pyramid and the sleeve 5 is of channel form having internal flanges 6, 7 in line contact with flanges 3, 4. A set-screw 9 contacts with the flange 4. In another form a bent rod 11 has contact points 12 and a setscrew 15 which engage part-spherical surfaces on the flanges. The pipes 1, 2 have concave- and convex end faces respectively.
