[Class 99 (i)] An expansion joint c6mprises a socket 4 having sliding contact with a ring 19 on a spigot 5, a sleeve 17 having sliding contact with a socket flange 9, and a stuffing-box comprising U-shaped metallic sealing rings 7 and a bolted gland ring 10. The gland ring carries an asbestos packing ring 15 and is provided with lubricating passages 16.
