Abstract

1,118,895. Pipe joints; joint-making packing. RADIATION Ltd. 9 Feb., 1967, No. 6280/67. Headings F2B and F2G A gland seal, particularly for a pipe joint, comprises a sleeve 1 of resilient material having circumferential ridges 3 on its inner and outer peripheral surfaces and an outwardly directed flange 6 at one end and an inwardly directed flange 7 at the other end. The ridges 3 are of sawtooth form As shown in Fig. 2, the sleeve is compressed between a pipe 10 and a member 8 having an entry port 9, the flanges 6 and 7 abutting the member 8 and the end of pipe 10 respectively. In an arrangement for joining two pipes, Fig. 3 (not shown), two sleeves (11, 12) are pressed into a metal sleeve (13) and the pipes (19, 20) are then inserted into the sleeves (11, 12).
