Abstract

1,058,454. Joint-making packing; pipe joints. CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. Oct. 25, 1965 [Nov. 5, 1964; Dec. 8, 1964], No. 45005/65. Headings F2B and F2G. A sealing gasket between a pipe 12 and socket 13 comprises a body 1 formed with an annular projection 5 adjoining a recess of trapezoidal cross-sectional shape for receiving a flange 15, the body being extended by an annular lip 7. The lip 7 is preferably made of a softer rubber than that of the body 1 and in its unstressed condition has a conical inner surface. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), two lips 7a, 7b are provided, the outer one bearing against a conical inner surface 18 of the socket.
