1,149,906. Universal pipe joints. HIGH TEMPERATURE ENGS. Ltd. 10 Aug., 1967 [29 July, 1966], No. 34136/66. Heading F2G. A fluid conduit gimbal joint comprises a pair of sealing members 18 in engagement with part-spherical inner surfaces of sleeve members 11, 12 and with a surrounding gimbal ring 16 which mounts the sleeve members, the gimbal ring and sealing members surrounding spaces 22 in communication with the fluid so that the fluid pressures produce resultant axial thrusts which urge the sealing members apart. Sleeves 11, 12 are pivoted on an outer gimbal ring 13 by two pairs of diametrically opposed pins 14 which are engaged in the inner gimbal ring 16 and retained by a clip 15. The sealing members 18 may have resilient annular metal sealing lips.
