Abstract

869,455. Pipe connectors. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd. March 23, 1960 [Feb. 27, 1959], No. 6959/59. Class 99(1). A pipe connector comprises a pipe 25 arranged for mounting on a vehicle coupler with an end portion 29 thereof projecting from the mounting in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the coupler, and an axially yieldable, resilient tubular member 31 having the inner end thereof fixed coaxial with the portion 29 and the outer end thereof guided for axial movement by and extending beyond the end portion of the pipe so as to yieldably engage and seal against a like pipe connector on another coupler. As shown, the member 31 is provided with corrugations 34 and a flared sealing lip 35, the inner end 32 of the member being received in an annular recess formed between the pipe 25 and a collar 29. In a modification, the member 41, Fig. 4, is supported within a socket 42 and has an inturned lip 45. Specification 851,293 is referred to.
