Abstract

1363133 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 26 July 1971 [24 Aug 1970] 35030/71 Heading H2E A connector comprises a body member 10 and a coupling ring 12 rotatably mounted thereon, the ring having an annular flange 16 and the body member an end portion 18 of diameter greater than the internal diameter of the flange, a central portion 22 of diameter less than the internal diameter of the flange and an elongated end portion 26 of diameter less than the central portion, there being a groove 30 formed in the shoulder 28 between the portions 22, 26 with the part 20 radially outwards of the groove being bent outwardly to retain the ring 12 on the body. The connector is shown mounted on a coaxial cable with the end portion 26 inserted between the cable outer conductor 38 and insulation 40 and held in place by a crimped ferrule 54. The cable inner conductor is connected to a contact element 52 within a dielectric insert 44, while contact fingers 46 are soldered at 48 to the inner surface of the portion 18. The ring 12 is faced with a sealing gasket 56. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the end portion (26<1>) is tapered with a barb (6) instead of having ridges as in the end portion 26 of Fig. 1, and inner surface of the groove (30<1>) is cylindrical and not tapered.
