Abstract

1,193,771. Washers. PRESSED STEEL FISHER Ltd. 30 Dec., 1968 [2 Jan., 1968], No. 330/68. Heading F2H. A washer assembly for indicating the tension in a bolted joint comprises a first washer 15 having a flange 16 and a second washer 17 through the hole in which the flange protrudes, the flange being adapted to collapse to the plane of the outer face of the second washer when the joint is tightened to a predetermined tension. The first washer may be made of sheet steel and the second washer may be made of sheet steel or a resilient material such as nylon. At the predetermined tension the washer 17 is no longer freely movable with respect to the washer 15 but is clamped between the head of the bolt 13 and the washer 15.
