947,816. Washers; joint making packing. DOWTY SEALS Ltd. June 5, 1962 [July 5, 1961], No. 24308/61. Addition to 866,922. Headings F2B and F2H. A resilient sealing washer, e.g. of polyethylene with a head 2 and concave-convex body 1, has an opening 7 tapering from the concave side 3 to a position 8 which may lie in the head 2 and from which may extend a cylindrical wall 11 extending to a larger opening portion 9. The shank of a fastener may be passed through a hole in a panel with its head abutting the panel and the fastener held temporarily in place by a washer slipped, tapered opening 7 first, over the headless end of the shank, until a nut or other fastener is tightened against the washer head so that the wall 11, and possibly part of the taper-wall 7, grips and seals against the shank.
