Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A retaining bolt comprises a mushroom shaped head 1 formed from an elastically deformable material, such as neoprene, bonded as the result of a vulcanisation treatment, to the head 3 of a shank 2. As shown in Fig. 7 the retaining bolt is forced through a funnel shaped member to initially deform the periphery of the head 1 and then to allow the head periphery to expand over a plate 12 into a retaining position. The head of the shank 2 may be in the form of a disc ball a split and splayed end or be screw threaded. The exterior of the head 1 may be partly frusto conical or with or without a mesh screw threaded.
