Abstract

866,258. Anchor-bolts. SEETRU Ltd. Sept. 9, 1957 [June 7, 1956], No. 17562/56. Class 89(1). An anchor-bolt assembly comprises a bolt 24 surrounded by a rubber or like resilient sleeve 23 engaging the underside of head 22, the screwed end 21 of the bolt protruding to engage a nut 26 having a tapered spigot 28, the diameter of which does not exceed that of the sleeve in its unstressed condition, and also having a shoulder 27. In use, the head and sleeve are inserted in a bore 13, e.g. in a rail flange 11 and sleeper 12, and the nut is tightened to compress the sleeve and cause it to bind against the bore-well. A washer 30 is interposed between the spigot and the sleeve. In a modification, the nut has a countersunk head and is spaced from the rubber &c. sleeve by a rigid sleeve with a plain bore and an external diameter not exceeding that of the rubber sleeve. According to the Provisional Specification, the nut and sleeve may be separated by a washer or hard sleeve of metal, wood or hard plastic material. Specification 685,643 is referred to.
